Our Mission

Pennies for Posho exists to provide thousands of children with food each day. If we meet their immediate physical needs, we can begin to pour into them spiritually. By meeting children where they are — in schools and churches through the country — we are able to turn your donations into thousands of meals each day, but also dormitories, clinics, schools and sustainable upgrades like chicken houses and wells.

“Pennies for Posho is a humanitarian and missions organization, 501(c)3 non-profit, committed to feeding the hungry children of Africa and to share the gospel and help disciple them. ”

Our driving verse is James 1:27
"...take care of orphans in their distress."

Our Story:
Called to Feed and Serve

Pennies for Posho began when Ted Moody took his first trip to Uganda in 2006. He was heartbroken by the number of school children who were starving. After a year of searching for ways to help, he asked some of his fellow pastors to donate their churches’ Vacation Bible School money to help.

Ted’s 40 years of preaching and speaking, from small congregations to the President, could never have prepared him for his next calling. In 2008, he left the pastorate full time to feed children in Ugandan orphanages and schools. What began with feeding children at a few orphanages has grown to maintaining feeding stations at more than 22 schools and orphanages — feeding more than 6,000 Ugandan children each day.

Thanks to your support of our efforts, thousands of Ugandan children are fed everyday through Pennies for Posho.

Ted Moody’s original vision has grown beyond food. Schools, dormitories, wells and medical clinics are being built to increase the quality of these children’s lives.

Children from some of the schools and orphanages have even started a choir, Ugandan Thunder, to speak on behalf of their hungry brothers and sisters. The choir tours the United States to help raise money for the food their family and friends eat back home.

 Our Feeding Stations

Beginning with four orphanages in Mbale, Uganda, Pennies for Posho has expanded to provide food for children at more than 16 feeding stations around the country.
